Sysselgården is located on an old family farm in the cultural landscape by the lake Randsfjorden in Hadeland. It has a range of activities, all based on handicraft. The cornerstone in Sysselgården’s operations is the Dåpstradisjon museum and sewing workshop.
Most of the products on sale are Norwegian handicrafts from local and national producers. The goods selection varies, as most products are handmade and therefore take time to make.
Straight from the field:
Every summer Sysselgården tends to its flax field – come and see the flax blossom. Flax wreaths and bouquets for sale, we also offer wreath-binding courses in August/September.
We sell honey, potatoes and sacks of firewood from the garden, field and forest. Potatoes and firewood must be ordered in advance.
In the summer, we have a cafe where we serve real homemade cakes. Ask us about gluten-free alternatives.
We offer courses in handicraft techniques, we hire out premises for non-noisy functions and we organise exhibitions and theme nights. Check out our website.
Come and relax in our beautiful resting area, we have seats both under the blue sky and under a roof. Can we tempt you with coffee and cake, a view of the cultural landscape, Randsfjorden and the surrounding countryside?
We have toys and play equipment for the children.
Dåpstradisjon – museum and sewing workshop
Dåpstradisjon has a unique and charming museum with a large collection of christening garments from home and abroad. The sewing workshop makes christening garments, and adornments are added using old techniques; we use both white and coloured fabrics. Dåpstradisjon has been awarded the heritage quality mark “Olavsrosa” by Norsk Kulturarv. Groups can book guided tours and talks on christening traditions from the middle ages up to the present.
