Our expansive region boasts a colourful ecclesiastical history.
The sister churches in Hadeland are a landmark from the Middle Ages, and Bønsnes church in Hole has a long and rich history dating back to the 12th century. Along St. Olav Ways you can see the churches of Balke and Hoff in Østre Toten, both beautiful medieval churches.
Newer churches such as Seegård in Snertingdalen are also worth a visit. Seegård has a beautiful altar piece made by Håkon Gullvåg. The altar piece in Gjøvik church has an interesting history as it is the first painted by a woman – Asta Nørregård.
